The mission of Safe Kids Frederick County is to prevent unintentional injuries to children ages 14 and under, in Frederick County, through a coordinated program of public awareness, education, legislative action, enforcement and access to low cost safety products.
Safe Kids Frederick County is one of over 300 local Safe Kids coalitions worldwide. Led by the Health Department and Frederick Memorial Hospital, Safe Kids Coalition has offered services in Frederick County for over 10 years.
More children under 14 die from unintentional injuries than from all childhood diseases combined. Our efforts are generally divided into 7 focus areas:
In 1995, a group of representatives from local agencies, businesses and organizations joined forces to form a Coalition dedicated to preventing unintentional injuries in children.
The group is comprised of individuals from a variety of Frederick County agencies, such as local police and fire departments, schools, health care organizations, local government departments, civic groups and private businesses.
The Coalition welcomes new members with an interest in keeping our kids safe from preventable injuries. We meet 10 times a year. Please call 301-600-3744 for information regarding our next meeting.
