To promote and support an environment absent of alcohol-related consequences for youth and young adults in Frederick County, using community resources to effect both individual and environmental change.
The purpose of the Frederick County Alcohol Prevention Initiative is to develop a comprehensive plan for Frederick County using the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) model to reduce the misuse of alcohol by youth ages 15-20 and binge drinking among young adults ages 21-25.
Reduce underage drinking by youth between the ages of 15-20.
Reduce binge drinking by young adults ages 21-25.
Continue to strengthen and sustain a community based coalition.
Build individual and environmental prevention strategies at the community level.
API Coalition Meetings
API Coalition meetings occur the 1st Thursday of every other month
(January, March, May, July, September, November)

Members of the API Coalition include representatives of local Law Enforcement, Hood College, Frederick County Liquor Board and other community agencies. The coalition is open to all community members in Frederick County.
The Maryland Strategic Prevention Framework 2(MSPF2) grant is funded and administered by the Maryland Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) and awarded to the Frederick County Health Department. The MSPF2 grant supports the API Coalition and other evidence based strategies to reduce underage drinking and binge drinking by youth and young adults in Frederick County.
