Short Stories from Courageous Kids Video Wins Award
FREDERICK, MD – The Short Stories from Courageous Kids video, produced by Frederick County Health Department’s Kids Like Us program, won the 2022 Communicator Silver Award of Distinction for Individual Causes & Awareness for Online Video from Channel Communications.
The Communicator Awards is a leading international award program that is sanctioned and judged by The International Academy of Visual Arts, who recognize outstanding achievements in marketing and communications. Annually the organization receives more than 6,000 entries in 10 disciplines. If an entry scores above a certain number, it is awarded a gold or silver statuette. The statuette is designed by R.S. Owens, the firm that produces the Academy Awards and Emmy Awards statuettes.
Kids Like Us Program Developer, Julie Wood Merchant describes the award-winning video. “The video focuses on what it can be like to grow up amidst the substance use disorder of a loved one. Through live action and animated drawings, the viewer learns about four different kids’ experiences as well as the positive coping skills, such as communicating feelings and making healthy choices, that helped them.”
