Recovery Coach Academy

The Frederick County Health Department’s BHS Division is excited to offer the next CCAR Recovery Coach Academy, there is no cost for this training (Free).

What is a Recovery Coach?

Recovery coaches are individuals who may be in recovery, a friend or family member of someone in recovery, or a recovery ally. This training will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to guide and mentor others through their own recovery process.

  • Training Dates: March 2, 2026 - March 6, 2026
    • Training will begin on Monday, March 2nd and end on Friday, March 6th.  You must attend all sessions.
  • Time: 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • Location: Virtually (MS Teams)

The CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© is a 5-day intensive training that equips participants with the skills to guide, mentor, and support individuals seeking to enter or sustain long-term recovery from alcohol or other drug addiction. The academy emphasizes active listening, effective questioning, and self-awareness..

To take this training you will need:

  1. A laptop or tablet that has a camera. You must download teams on a computer, tablet, or desktop to participate.
  2. Camera must be “on” during the training.
  3. A strong Internet connection
  4. A quiet space that provides privacy for you and other members attending the training.
  5. All materials (participant handouts which you will be emailed to you) to make this an effective learning environment for you.
