Communicable Diseases

The Communicable Disease program monitors the rates of infectious diseases in Frederick County to identify possible trends in illness and assist with controlling the spread of illness.

Monitored Diseases

Diseases that must be monitored are set by State regulation. Required reporters include healthcare providers, school and childcare facility personnel, medical laboratory personnel, masters of vessels or aircraft and owners of food establishments.

A full list of reportable diseases, reporting forms and fact sheets about those diseases are accessible at the Maryland Department of Health’s Prevention and Health Promotion Administration website.
