IS-100.C Introduction to the Incident Command System (FEMA Emergency Management Institute Independent Study)
This course describes the history, features and principles, and structure of the Incident Command System, which is the organizational basis for the response to any incident. You must have a FEMA SID number to enroll in this course (see prior slide).
- This course requires you to obtain a FEMA Student Identification (SID) Number. You may have already done this if you’ve ever taken an onsite or independent study course through FEMA. If you’ve never been issued a FEMA SID, you can get one by completing the online form at: https://cdp.dhs.gov/FEMASID/register
- If you’ve taken a FEMA course in the past and already have a SID, but no longer recall or have a record of the number, you can retrieve your number at: https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid/account/find

IS-700.B Introduction to the National Incident Management System (FEMA EMI IS)
This course provides an overview of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) which guides all levels of government, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), and the private sector to work together seamlessly to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from the effects of incidents.
- This course requires you to obtain a FEMA Student Identification (SID). If you have not previously been issued an SID or have one and don’t recall the password, see 1. a. and b. above.
