Applicants must submit for a septic repair (repair permit) in person at the Frederick County Health Department/Environmental Health Services.
The fee for the permit can be found on the Fee Schedule.
This fee can be paid in cash, check made payable to Frederick County Health Department or Visa/Mastercard.
Information pertaining to the property must be supplied at the time of application, including, but not limited to:
Name of owner/applicant
Mailing address
Address of property
Name of subdivision and lot number (if applicable)
It is also necessary for the applicant to choose a licensed Frederick County septic installer to perform the repair.
A property owner may perform their own repair; however, prior to doing so a Septic Release form must be signed with the Health Department.
Applicant must have their contracted septic system installer contact the Health Department to have a Sanitarian meet them at the site.
At the time of the site visit, the Sanitarian will conduct any necessary soil evaluation and percolation testing and determine the appropriate means of repairing the septic system. A backhoe is required for the excavation.
Once the repair has been completed, but before it is covered, the installer must contact the Sanitarian for a final inspection.
When the final inspection is completed, a certificate is issued to the property owner that verifies the repair was done to the satisfaction of the Health Department.
